Cath Hyam
The story behind the numbers
Cath Hyam had been training at 6X for 13 years, working with her coach toward a long list of goals. Over the last of those years the team had been hinting, not especially subtly, that she should compete in her first powerlifting meet, as she had a keen interest in improving her squat, bench and deadlift.
Her debut was outstanding: a 102.5 kg squat, a 60 kg bench press, a 140 kg deadlift and a flawless nine from nine lifts, securing third place in her weight class at 63 years of age.
Cath's progress is proof that strength training is not reserved for the young, and that coached technique work compounds over the long term.
Cath Hyam’s results are individual and are not a guarantee of the outcome any other member will achieve. Results depend on your starting point, attendance, effort, nutrition, sleep and health.
